This year, I'm having this printed onto a 6" x 4" photo from Wal-Mart (9 cents per photo). Then, I'll cut the card into 2 pieces for my kids to hand out to their friends & class-mates. My older daughter will write the names of whom she is giving the Valentine to, in the red heart area.

Total price for 64 cute & customized valentines: $2.88. They can also be used as bookmarks for Grandparents.

If you have any photo editing software on your computer, this is a fun way to save money on Valentine cards this year.

Tonight I'm putting these on my kids pillows. When they go to get into bed tonight, they'll find them. We'll have them put on their slippers and robes, then with a cup of hot chocolate & cinnamon toast, we'll head out to look at Christmas lights in the neighborhood.

Easy! Free! Fun! Those are the best kinds of traditions!

DIY Princess Party Crowns

My daughters' birthday is this week. She will be 4. The only thing she wanted for her birthday is purple eyeshadow. Since I don't plan on replacing the carpet anytime soon, I tried to negotiate with her. I tried to talk her into a fun toy instead, but she refused. She saw a lady wearing purple eye shadow while watching YouTube hair tutorial videos (which happens to be her new favorite "show.") and ever since, she has been determined to get her hands on some purple eye shadow. Finally I was able to talk her into inviting her friends over for a party instead of the purple eyeshadow. Since it's a last minute party, and I don't have a big budget for fun party favors. I used paper, burlap, tissue paper, netting, and rhinestones (all of which I had in my supply basket) to make these fun princess crowns for the party guests to take home. My daughter is excited, and most importantly she has forgotten about the purple eye shadow (I hope.)

The past 2 weekends were the first weekends in a long time where I didn't have to work all day. My husband and I spent them clearing out junk, we had a garage sale and donated the rest of it. It feels so good to get rid of things I haven't had time to use in years. I'm embarrassed to admit that most of the stuff we got rid of was crafting supplies. My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year and I told him that cleaning out the basement was the best gift I could get. I don't want any new clutter.

That was before I saw this: Krylon Glitter Spray. I'm taking back what I said about having a clean basement as a gift. I think I might need a can of this glitter spray. Now I just need to decide what color I want, and what I'm going to use it on.

Hello! Thanks for being patient with me. I've been trying to figure out how to balance work and kids. I still haven't figured it out so if you have any suggestions or tips to share with me, leave them in the comments below.

Anyhow, I'm excited about this new little hello sign! I have one resting above my window when you walk into my house. This little sign is super fun because it’s so inexpensive and versatile. I used yellow spray paint to color mine. I have customers who have covered their little hello sign with their favorite patterned paper using modge podge.

I used Scotch Reusable strips to attach my little hello sign to my wall.
This sign would also look adorable on a front porch near the entry.

Painting Party

My daughter wanted to do a painting class for her birthday party. I wish I had more time to plan it & make it super cute, but I think the kids had a great time despite my lack of effort.

I had each party guest stand under their painting. I will make copies of this picture & send it out with Thank You cards.

We invited the parents over for treats & an art exhibit for the last 15 minutes of the party.

Paint Pallet cupcakes & ice cream were served for dessert.

Ummm, yes that is a dirty diaper next to my front door. I should have probably cropped that out of this picture... but I'm too lazy. Just pretend it isn't there.

My husband picked up this solid wood buffet table from our local classifieds. This was my Christmas present. Thanks Tyler! I had fun re-staining & re-painting it.

Happy New Year! I took all my Christmas decorations down, and my family room was looking really bare, so I cut a large 2011 sign out of chipboard & painted it silver. The ornaments above are from the 75% off Christmas rack at Target.

My New Years resolution is to have one new resolution each month two work on. What are some of your goals for the new year?

Chocolate Spa Party

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been busy catching up on orders from the crazy, but fun weekend. Friday, I was invited to a Copic Marker class... which was awesome. I finally got to meet Janna who was on our design team last season. I also got to meet & sit next to the talented Margie, of the Girls Paperie. I learned so much about how to use those markers, and now I want a whole set. Thanks for inviting me Janna.

Later, my friend and I threw a Chocolate themed Spa party for our friend's birthday. We had 15 girls join us for Chocolate, games, and a foot soak. (Pictures of party shown above.)

Elegant Chalkboard Wall Decal

I just hung this chalkboard decal up last week, and so far it's been useful & fun. It works just like a regular chalkboard. I've used it for posting menus, caramel apple prices for my boutique on Friday, messages to my husband, and memos for myself.

Inexpensive DIY Halloween Decor

These felt bats are super easy to make, and a very inexpensive way to decorate for Halloween.

1) Click HERE to download my PDF bat pattern.
2) Cut out pattern and trace bats onto black stiff felt, or black card-stock.
3) Cut bats from felt or card-stock.
4) hang from mantel, ceiling, stair railings, & etc.

Above, I used masking tape to tape the bats to my front door. On these bats, I folded them towards the center to make them look like they are flying.
