Fall Hat Tutorial

I had this $1.50 hat from Wal-Mart laying around. I also had some felt left over from my leaf garland (shown above), so I decided to make the hat a little more fun to wear.

1. Using the basic $1.50 snow hat from Wal-Mart, measure how it will fit onto your head, then cut off the excess area.
2: Cut some petals, little circles, & a leaf out of your felt. They don't need to be perfect (it's part of the charm.)
3: Place pieces onto the hat to get a general Idea of how you'd like your hat to look.

4: Stitch your pieces onto your hat. I used the left over gold floss from my leaf banner to stitch the flower onto my hat.
5: Finish your bottom edge. I plan to fishes the bottom of the hat off with a simple stitch using a thin yarn.

  1. I love the applique! I think it would look equally cute on a cardigan or messenger bag.
